A Question of Time #1 is one panel of a triptych created at an artist residency I did at the UCross Foundation in Wyoming, as a collaboration between artists at the residency and myself. I pinned up a large single piece of archival paper onto a wall in my studio and invited other artists to apply random mark-making and doodling over the course of a few days. When I felt the paper was ready to be deconstructed, I tore it up, painted the backs blue, and numbered each piece with graphite. I used my stitching process to then reconstruct the pieces in a new, random order onto Japanese paper.
