She Vessel (Leslie S. Chavez)

In celebrating women, I wanted to celebrate our bodies, hence the nude photos on my ceramic vase. Roughly fashioning the vase with my hands, my fingers are clearly visible in the clay. The addition of the dried vegetation adds contrast to the smooth voluptuous figures on the vase itself. These particular female body shapes call to mind a bygone era and since I enjoy life drawing, I used these images from an old art school textbook and printed them onto the clay.
