Courage (Janet Nelson)

I painted this piece during a moment of profound vulnerability, deeply apprehensive about voicing my perspective in a difficult conversation. Looking across the desert expanse, the small bush of bright yellow flowers felt like a quiet stand against the immense weight of the mountains behind it. Though tiny, its vivid warmth insists on being seen. This painting reflects my realization that even the smallest perspective holds value and deserves to be shared. It reimagines a familiar landscape as an invitation for viewers to reflect on the courage it takes to honor their own quiet truths.
