This is a drawing using pastels on black sanded paper. It began as a plein-air sketch of my partner about to start the night walk up to the Alhambra in Granada, Spain. It was finished in the studio. I was struck by the castle's soft golden glow and the patterns of light on the buildings as we looked up the cliff.
