Drawing on over 25 years of professional experience as a fashion designer, this portrait explores the profound personal and cultural schism between parent and child, old world and new. The subject is my mother—a woman rooted in the humble, traditional attire of a Korean parent—unexpectedly styled in an iconic designer dress. This dichotomy serves as a visual metaphor for the familiar themes of generational shifts and migration. Anchoring the portrait is a geometric motif, a signature of my own artistic aesthetic, serving to frame the juxtaposition of heritage and haute couture.
