Seascape (Nancy Miller)

Inspired by an afternoon of snorkeling in Hawaii many years ago, Seascape captures the myriad colors in that underwater environment, as well as the graceful contours of the fish, mollusks, anemones and plants, all in constant motion responding to an invisible ocean current. This imaginary tropical cove is both fanciful and botanically accurate. Rays of sunlight create dramatic contrasts enhancing the detail and variety of elements throughout the painting. The jettisoned beer bottle is clearly out of place, representing the perhaps unintended, but nevertheless intrusive impact of mankind.
