King’s Day celebrates the new pueblo leadership. I was cramped in a doorway off the square and the young dancers were right in front of me. I was shooting into the sun so the dancer was backlit. I adjusted the aperture and waited until a dancer was right in front of me. If you look beyond the dancer, you can see the elders drumming. Around the square, you see the other adolescent dancers in a huge circle. Afterwards, each new leader must host dinners to all participants (think 12 different chillis and Jellos!).
