Las Abuelas en Nueva Yol (Mariana Maldonado-Pagán)

These are my two late grandmothers, both living in the New York, and they couldn't have been more different. The one with the glasses always cared about how things looked--herself included. The other one was warm present, and genuinely interested in everyone she met. I painted them in bold swirling color because that's how I remember them, vivid, full of life and impossible to forget. Two women, one couch, a lifetime of contrast.
