La agonia del amor (Mariana Maldonado-Pagán)

I wanted to paint what a broken heart actually feels like--not a symbol, but the real thing, right there on the floor, taking its last breath. The matador isn't a villain. He's someone who made a choice. The woman watching from across the room is powerless to stop what has already been decided. The castanets are on the floor because the music already stopped. This painting is part of a series titled "El Corazón" (The Heart).
