Anchored Shadows (Jane Baron)

After decades of capturing the world through a camera lens I found myself wanting to touch the textures I had only photographed. This vessel represents that transition- a move from a two dimensional image to a sculptural form. Drawing from the wabi-wabi tradition, the hand-sculpted protrusions serve as anchors for light, while the dark void of the interior grounds the piece in silence. This vessel is made from clay derived from organic recycled papers and wood pulp.
