Bach 21 was created on round wood (18 x 18 inches) and incorporates the facsimile manuscript of Bach's Prelude No. 21, Bk. 1 for piano - from The Well Tempered Klavier. The piece features Maquis, the bird, developed using soft pastel and matte varnish. Three octaves of marbles (21 notes) for each key in the B flat major scale, cascade across the top portion of the work. The inspiration for this piece is in the melody being sung, first in the left hand, then in the right, and ultimately - through Maquis.
