The Balian Ice Cream house is a mansion set in the foothills of the San Gabriel Mountains in Altadena. It sat empty of a number of years until a recent purchaser brought it back to life. Painted while shuttered, I felt the one light illuminating the back room provided a glimmer of hope for its eventual rehabilitation.
