"Little Image 7" is part of my "Little Image" series, painted in 2022-23; inspired technically by the acrylic stain paintings of Helen Frankenthaler and the "Little Image" paintings of Lee Krasner. Symbolically, there is a sculptural allusion as the central element/gesture of black and red. The turquoise and blue stains let the raw canvas peek out and intimate sky and water. The sweep of yellow is for sunlight. The palm tree with black leaves symbolizes climactic challenge. Painted "Alla Prima" (all at once), the picture speaks of the Desert and SoCal, the speed and urgency.
