Angels Landing in June

This breathtaking view from Angels Landing in Zion was painted by me from a photograph taken by my son. He had hiked throughout the region, and he said, "This incredible climb and the view took my breath away." I agreed the moment I saw his photograph and felt compelled to paint the scene. I usually paint en plein air (on sight outdoors), and that experience helped me capture the full scene. It has been a joy to work on it rock by rock and tree by tree. Early afternoon light still allowed the vibrant colors and aerial perspective.
