“Surface Deep” is part of my “Cracks in the Ice” series. This kiln-formed multi-layered triptych was created from photographs taken on Ponant’s Le Commandant Charcot icebreaker in the Ross Sea, Feb 2022. These pieces are meant to not only honor the beauty of the polar region, but to evoke thought and conversation. The polar regions are resilient in their strength, yet easily influenced, its vulnerability stands exposed to the world and its choices. Pieces in this series were exhibited during Venice Glass Week, September 2023
