Do we really know the earth? We only get to see what’s sensately available to us? How do we get to see what is beyond or within? As artists, we continually and persistently seek an understanding of it. An astronaut friend once described my photo, “On the Edge,” as a view of earth he had seen from space. It represents the view of earth that we have seen only through the eyes of those who have traveled in space, a macro view of our planet Earth: Dream-like, idealized, and romantic.
