Repeal Danger Averted

In the decision to repeal "Roe v. Wade" in June 2022, Supreme Court Justice Thomas signaled via his concurring opinion that the Obergefell decision which granted Gay marriage in 2015 should be revisited by the Court. The six conservative Justices (depicted as R, E, P, E, A, L) would likely vote to repeal Obergefell. The three liberal Justices (depicted as X) would likely vote against repeal. With the passage of the Respect For Marriage Act in December 2022, the Supreme Court was essentially shackled from repealing Gay marriage and the danger at the Federal level was averted.
