I spent most of my younger days taking long walks through the Michigan woods. This scene is very familiar to me - I've walked it 500 times in 500 forests, but it always brings me joy.
This sculpture was created by painting with enamel on 9 individual layers of glass. When all layers were complete, they were stacked in a kiln, and fired to nearly 1500F to melt the layers together into a single, thick glass panel that is rich in depth and dimension.
