It was inspired by a painting of a swimmer seen only partially through the glass panes of a front door. It hung on the entry wall and reminded me of one of Hockney's swimming pools. I began to imagine seeing this painting as a destination – as a real pool, not a painting in a foyer but at the end of a grand gallery hallway.  Eventually, I met the homeowner and was invited in to photograph the work.
