Ship of Fools (Cheryl Bankes)

I approached this piece as an abstract form with a large negative space upon its own plinth. Planning to use other materials with the clay, in order to add a design element of contrast, I added found objects. As a result, the final form evoled into a mirage of a boat. Hence, a Ship of Fools, as it would never work as an actual water vessel; it is just a facsimile representing the human condition.
