The zebra's promient place in African culture is symbolic of strength and beauty, unity and social harmony and adaptability. Zebra shields were used for ritualistic purpose in initiation rites, healing rituals and to ward off evil spirits.This shield utilizes authenthic and created zebra skin, a sacred ceremonial spear, wooden spools, clay beads and intricate Baoule decorative brass objects representing fertility and prosperity. Center is a red glass bead representing the heart of the zebra. Bells, beads and precious jasper quartz call for attention from the Spirit Gods.
