Three is an original story of a piano, its trials and tribulations and successes, written on tracing paper by the artist and set against a facsimile manuscript of Beethoven's Piano Sonata Op. 111. The story begins with 'three' because of the number of legs on a grand piano, and then takes one through the indignities of human's interactions at times - only to eventually learn of the piano's great sensitivity. The story ends with an understanding of music made from the heart. Depicting the entire piano keyboard are 88 colored marbles set along the upper portion of the work.
