Inspired by the last line of the TJ Klune novel Somewhere Beyond the Sea, and the Emily Dickinson poem: “Hope is the thing with feathers, that perches in the soul, and sings the tune without the words, and never stops at all, and sweetest in the gale is heard; and sore must be the storm that could abash the little bird that kept so many warm.” The figure represent my coming out as a Gay man at 25 years old, and the freedom and liberation I felt by accepting, owning, and loving my true self.
