Dusk at Willow Hole (Laurie Schafer)

Water is life and Willow Hole in Joshua Tree National Park holds endless inspiration for me to create my fiber/mixed media work.

The Willow Hole microclimate supports numerous flora and fauna.

This version of Willow Hole features dusk gathering over the flora that surrounds the pond. The algae surrounding the pond clings tenuously to the willows and the pond scum becomes fabric-like, weaving together verdant shades of green accented with jewel tones. The tapestry of greens intensifies as the sun begins to set, adding another dimension to the sustaining life of Willow Hole.
