Getting Close (GaryNaN)

My work is focused on the interaction of geometric shapes and color. The overall pattern of "Getting Close" is a loose grid of small squares, like those of Chuck Close, but set at a 45-degree angle. Each square contains circles, squares, etc. Superimposed over them is a patchwork quilt pattern. Each patchwork element contains only one color. There are four colors, each having 4 different shades light-to-dark (values). These small shapes in intricate color combinations are distinct at a short distance, but as the distance increases, a face emerges - not of Chuck Close, though, it's Glenn Close.
