Sunset Travels (DonaldNaN)

This painting began when I was driving through Utah on the northern edge of Canyonlands National Park on my from San Diego to Colorado. Just an hour or so from my intended stop for the night I looked in my rearview mirror and saw this. I pulled over and spent next the thirty minutes taking photos of the incredible evening glow from the buttes and canyons. Later in my studio I did a small painting of the scene and last year did this 24"x48" oil on linen.
