Tangles On Willow Hole (Laurie Schafer)

Willow Hole is one of the rare locations in Joshua Tree National Park that holds water year round. This lovely pond expands and recedes depending on temperature and rain. The constant flux creates delicate arabesque patterns in the algae. Willow Hole is a great source of inspiration for me.

Canvas has been painted in acrylic paints representing the verdant greens and blues of Willow Hole. The algae is created by needle felting mixed fibers including silks, wools and detritus fibers from my wearable art business.
