The residents of the American South are in turmoil politically, emotionally and spiritually. Traditional values and their way of life are being challenged by increased population as well as changing American values and attitudes. These values are represented in this painting by an American flag, Confederate flag, Rainbow flag, Black and White conflict and the effect of conservative religious beliefs. All these influences come together to create an explosive atmosphere of turmoil.
