When I got to radium, the name Marie Curie popped up, and I learned she was the first woman to receive a Nobel Prize — and the only person, even until this day, to receive Nobel Prizes in two subjects: chemistry and physics. Curie was a physicist and chemist who pioneered the study of radiation and discovered the element polonium and radium with her husband, Pierre.
